Describe the event
Write what you noticed, when it started and whether it is constant or occasional. Include the conditions: a cold start, rain, a particular speed, or a parked vehicle. Describe observations without turning a guess from a forum into a diagnosis.
Keep the scope clear
A service, inspection and diagnostic appointment are different jobs. Ask what the booking includes, how additional work will be authorised and how you will receive the findings. If the vehicle may be unsafe, seek advice before driving it to the appointment.
Bring useful evidence
Take relevant previous invoices and a short written timeline. A photo of a dashboard message taken while safely parked may be clearer than a remembered description. Avoid filming while driving or repeatedly recreating a fault merely to obtain evidence.
Leave with a next action
Ask which work was completed, which items remain and what the garage recommends next. Keep the written explanation and invoice. An unresolved symptom should stay on the record; it should not disappear because an appointment has finished.
